_{Laminated plastic}                
Laminate plastic is made with layers of plastic and paper, fused under high heat and pressure.  This is the least expensive and most common option.  It comes in several finishes and numerous colors.  Laminate plastic counter tops are easy to clean and resists stains, grease, heat and impact.  Brand names include Wilsonart, Fomica, Nevamar and Pionite.

Laminate plastic can be fabricated two ways, either as post formed counter tops or custom fabricated.

Post formed countertops

Post formed laminate countertops are prefabricated in standard lengths and come  complete with rolled front edges and backsplashes. Weedas stocks 12 patterns and can cut to your specifications while you wait.   When installing scribe the backsplash to the wall and screw them to the cabinet framing.

Custom fabricated Laminated countertops

Custom built countertops are available with a variety of edge treatments. These tops are fabricated in the shop to save the mess in your home which is especially important on replacement jobs. 

^{Solid Surface}

Made from acrylic or an acrylic blend, includes the brand Corian. Lots of variety in styles and colors, easy to clean and non toxic. Avoid hot objects on the counter and it can be damaged by too much cutting. Will stain at times.

Color and texture run all the way through and cannot wear away.  Choose from a wide variety of easy to-clean color your kitchen and bath.  In addition to counter tops products include kitchen sinks, bath and shower walls, shower floors and vanity tops. 

* Hot pans and boiling water will not harm

* Highest resistance of impact from heavy objects

* Scratches buff out easily with household cleaners

* Curling irons will not harm

* Make-up and hair dye can be buffed out with household cleaners

^{Butcher Block}
Made from wood, like cutting boards. Relatively inexpensive. Vulnerable to cuts and nicks, but sandable. Needs to be well-cleaned. Usually maintained with wood oil or beeswax.

^{Authentic Stone}
Usually made from granite or marble. Granite is best for kitchens because it resists stains, scratches, cracks and cleans up with warm water. (It’s also possible to get other, less hard stone tops like sandstone, soapstone and limestone.)

^{Engineered Stone}
Looks like granite, but made from quartz and resins. It resists stains and abrasions, but can be damaged with impact.

^{Ceramic Tile}
Made from natural clay, fired and glazed. Big variety of colors and styles. Tile can look great, is easy to maintain and can be repaired. Because there is grouting between the tiles, it can look dirty over time unless you seal the grout, or use new, stain resistant grout.

Marble Vanity Tops        

Elegant cultured marble tops with integral bowls are made from man made materials that are mixed and poured in a mold.  The primary materials are polyester resin mixed with limestone.  The gel coat surface is a resin.
